Gregories Barn

Thornage, Norfolk

Gregories Barn serves as a community centre for residents and day service users at a centre supporting adults with learning disabilities. The building includes a flexible multi-purpose hall, a kitchen, and WC facilities designed to meet the varied needs of its users.

The building was carefully designed with sustainability front and centre. It features a strong glulam frame and timber wall and roof panels that were pre-built off-site for quality and speed. Insulated with recycled newspaper, the structure is wrapped in cedar boarding and topped with a natural slate roof. Triple-glazed timber windows and doors keep the building warm and energy efficient all year round.

We delivered a welcoming, practical space that supports the centre’s important work, while prioritising sustainability at every step. The finished building feels comfortable and inviting, and stands as a great example of eco-friendly construction in a community setting.

Renovation of Listed House

Renovation of Listed House

Purslows was brought in to breathe new life into a beautiful but long-neglected Grade II listed house on Elm Hill - one of the most historic streets in Norwich. The building dates back to the 16th century, with some parts believed to have survived the great fire of 1507. After standing empty for years, it was bought by a local conservation charity determined to bring it back into use.

The site already had planning permission in place, and our role was to develop the scheme through to completion - securing Building Regulations approval, specifying and tendering the works, and managing the build on site.
