Conversion and Renovation

Cley, Norfolk

This project saw the revival of a pair of derelict semi-detached houses in the heart of Cley. Planning permission was secured to combine the two into a single family home, and we were brought on board to handle the design, specification, tender process, and project management for a developer client.

The condition of the original buildings meant that roughly two-thirds had to be taken down and rebuilt from the ground up. We designed a spacious, four-bedroom home with a modern open-plan kitchen and dining area, while also carving out space for a cosy living room and snug. The layout makes the most of the footprint and balances openness with quieter, more private corners - perfect for everyday family life.

Results

The finished home feels bright, welcoming, and full of personality. It strikes the perfect balance between modern family living and village charm, providing a space where the family can comfortably settle and thrive. This project really shows how thoughtful design and careful management can breathe new life into an old, tired building.

Renovation of Listed House

Renovation of Listed House

Purslows was brought in to breathe new life into a beautiful but long-neglected Grade II listed house on Elm Hill - one of the most historic streets in Norwich. The building dates back to the 16th century, with some parts believed to have survived the great fire of 1507. After standing empty for years, it was bought by a local conservation charity determined to bring it back into use.
