Completion of Renovation Works to Grade II Listed Elm Hill House

We’re pleased to share that the renovation of 16 Elm Hill is now complete and the building has officially been handed over - bringing to a close a rewarding six-month project for Purslows, Norwich Preservation Trust, and the wider team involved.
Purslows led the architectural design and took on the role of Contract Administrator throughout, supporting this important part of Norwich’s built heritage every step of the way - from securing Listed Building Consent to overseeing work on site and seeing it through to completion.
The result is a beautifully restored Grade II listed townhouse, now ready for modern use while still retaining all the character and historic detail that makes it so special. During the project, research revealed the building was even older than previously thought - dating back to the 1500s. It’s a great example of how much history can be hiding in plain sight.
As with most heritage projects, there were challenges along the way - from structural repairs to sensitively incorporating new services - but with a collaborative team effort and a clear vision from Norwich Preservation Trust, the work has been carried out with real care and attention to detail.
Now that it’s finished, the property will be leased and eventually offered on a leasehold basis - giving someone the chance to call home a unique building that’s been brought thoughtfully into the present, without losing touch with its past.
For us, it’s a great example of how traditional conservation and modern design can work hand in hand. We’re proud to have played a part in giving 16 Elm Hill a new lease of life - and to help ensure it’s around for many more years to come.
